The Vampire FaceLift ™ gets its name from the fact that it uses your own blood to harness powerfully regenerating platelet rich plasma (PRP) which contains a high content of growth factors, the cells responsible for regeneration and repair in our bodies. The Vampire FaceLift™ works on the basis that the body’s own natural healing powers that slows down the signs of ageing. A small amount of blood is taken from you and then treated in a centrifuge to harvest the platelet rich plasma. It is suitable for both men and women of any age (over 18) and skin type. As with all treatments you will need a consultation in order for Dr Wakil to assess if this is the right procedure for you. Certain conditions such as platelet dysfunction syndrome, sepsis and chronic liver pathology may make you unsuitable for treatment.
The treatment does involve injections so it can be a little uncomfortable but topical anaesthetic is used to minimize any discomfort and most patients find the treatment very tolerable with many experiencing no pain at all.
PRP or Platelet Rich plasma is one of the safest treatments that we apply in cosmetic medicine because it uses your own blood, so there’s nothing external added at all. PRP has been used for many years now with no reported major risk factors or side effects whatsoever. The kit that we use is sterile and disposable, used only once for this patient and disposed off afterwards. There is very little downtime with the procedure. Your face may look a little pink immediately after treatment but this will resolve in a couple of hours. You may also have minor bruising but if this happens it should settle within couple of days.
