As we age, the skin on our face and neck begins to lose the fight with gravity and appears loose and baggy. It starts to sag and wrinkle in a downwards direction.

Having a desire to lift this skin back up, to obtain a more youthful aspect is commonplace. Often this means going under the surgeon’s knife, something which is not appealing to most. For those men and women looking for a less invasive, less downtime alternative to a surgical facelift, plus a way to reduce fatty deposits under the chin or jowls to tighten the jawline, which requires no stitches, then the FaceTite™ radiofrequency tightening procedure could be the answer.

FaceTite uses targeted radiofrequency energy (RFAL or radiofrequency assisted liposuction) to remove small areas of stubborn fat and tighten the tissue within the dermal or skin layers to achieve a lifting and contouring result without having to cut and remove skin.

It can be used in the face and neck and is especially effective to treat sagging jowls, recontour the jawline, reduce a double chin, lift cheeks, treat under-eye bags, as well as to tighten the neck and alleviate a ‘turkey neck’.

With FaceTite you can expect approximately a 40% tightening in your facial tissue, with much of the result being visible almost immediately and improving over time as new collagen and elastin, the building blocks of youthful skin, are produced by the body.

How does it work?

Your FaceTite treatment will be performed using a local anaesthetic (lidocaine) to numb the area, removing any pain and discomfort during the procedure.

A small entry hole in made in the area to be treated and the FaceTite cannula (a blunt needle-like, hollow instrument) is inserted under the skin. The cannula measures 10cms long and is 1.3mm is diameter. The cannula is used to deliver the radiofrequency energy which creates heat to tighten the tissue and disrupt fat cells which can then be removed under suction or left for the body to metabolise naturally.

In order to achieve the optimum levels of tissue tightening, we continue to deliver the radiofrequency energy until a required temperature is reached. The temperature is monitored throughout, by the device, to make sure that other tissue is not damaged during treatment. An automatic cut-off of the radiofrequency energy occurs when optimal temperatures to tighten skin and destroy fat are achieved. This ensures a safe treatment.

FAQ's

Your suitability for the FaceTite procedure will be established in a consultation with our doctor. A full medical history will be taken to rule out any contraindications to treatment.

Generally, treatment is suitable for men and women who present with a degree of loose or baggy skin on their face and neck, as well as submental fat or a double chin, all of which would benefit from and respond to tightening using radiofrequency energy. Ideal patients are usually aged 35 – 60 with mild to moderate skin laxity, but suitability will depend on the extent of loose tissue, plus the result desired, and what is achievable.

Pregnant and breast-feeding women are not suitable for FaceTite treatment.

If you have recently had a dermal filler treatment in your face, using temporary hyaluronic acid-based fillers, you will be asked to wait 2-3 months before Facetite treatment can commence. We ask that you declare all past facial aesthetic treatments, including fillers and thread lifts, for example, as this will assist in determining your suitability for FaceTite

Treatment with FaceTite is performed under local anaesthetic, which is delivered through the injection of lidocaine into the area to be treated before we commence the procedure. The injection may hurt a little, depending on your tolerance to pain, but any discomfort during the FaceTite treatment itself should be minimal, with perhaps only a sensation of warmth felt.

The radiofrequency energy is delivered in a precise and targeted manner, making it a safe and effective treatment option for both men and women.

Depending on the extent of the areas being treated, the FaceTite procedure takes between one to two hours to perform.

Although treatment with FaceTite is regarded as minimally invasive, and certainly a lot less invasive than a surgical face lift procedure, you will still need to expect to take 48-72 hours to recover from the treatment.

The small entry hole used to insert the cannula will heal very quickly following the procedure and should leave no scar. Expect swelling, bruising, a feeling of tightness, and possible pain and discomfort for a few days after the treatment, which can be managed with over-the-counter pain medication such as paracetamol if required.

Immediately after the FaceTite procedure you will be able to see the effects of the tissue tightening, but this will increase and improve over time. It will take up to 3 or 4 days for any swelling to subside, whereupon you will be able to see the full effect of the majority of the tightening achieved. As the weeks and months go by, your body will produce new collagen and elastin to repair and reinforce the areas of tissue tightened with the radiofrequency energy. This will further enhance the lifting effects, as well as giving a longer-lasting result to the achieved recontouring and lift. It will take approximately 1 to 3 months to see the full and final result from your non-surgical facelift.

For most people, one treatment session with FaceTite is enough to achieve the desired level of skin tightening, but depending on the amount of skin laxity present to begin with, more than one treatment may be recommended with another session performed 2 to 3 months after the first. Your doctor will be able to advise on how many treatment sessions will be required to achieve your desired outcome.
