Plexr is a ground-breaking new treatment which uses plasma energy to achieve a technique called plasma sublimation. This minimally invasive alternative to cosmetic surgical procedures has been dubbed ‘soft surgery’ and produces great skin tightening results on eyelids, abdomen, scarring and other skin lesions.

Dr SW Clinic was the first to introduce Plexr Soft Surgery into the UK. As the master trainer for this technique in the UK, Dr Sherif Wakil can achieve dramatic results for a wide variety of skin and ageing concerns with no cutting or stitches.

Tissue instantly contracts and tightens, creating results than are comparable to surgical skin removal, particularly in the eye area in the case of a non-surgical blepharoplasty.

Plasma is the fourth state of matter after solid, liquid and gas. The Plexr device works by ionising gas particles which are in the air between the tip of the machine and the skin to form plasma. An electrical arc is then generated which then results in the sublimation. In this case the sublimation which turns a solid into a gas, vaporises the very top layer of skin at the tip of the device.

The good thing about using targeted plasma energy, which is delivered in small, precise dots to the surface of the skin, is that it doesn’t spread heat to surround tissue and thus the controlled damage is just in the spot where the energy is placed. This allows the body to rapidly heal the area as growth factors and the building blocks of new skin cells are flooded to the damaged spots from the surrounding healthy tissue.

The Plexr soft surgery can be used to treat the following:

  • Non-surgical blepharoplasty
  • Acne and acne scarring
  • Stretch marks and scars, including surgical and traumatic scarring
  • Lines and wrinkles
  • Skin lesions such as warts and moles
  • Age spots and sun spots
  • Face and body lifting
  • Tattoo removal

FAQ's

The Plexr treatment works by creating a series of tiny dots on the skin from the plasma energy delivery, which triggers an instant contraction and tightening of skin fibres to create a lifting, remodelling and rejuvenating effect.
Plexr® uses the fourth state of matter: plasma to achieve this. The principle involves the ionisation of gases contained in the air to create a small electrical ‘arc’, which can be used to treat specific areas of concern without damaging the surrounding areas or applying any unwanted heat to them, Plasma is much less invasive than laser or diathermy.

Plexr can be used for a wide range of ageing and skin concerns. It is a very safe treatment and is suitable for nearly all skin types. It is not advised for those with very dark skin due to the risk of hypopigmentation where lighter colour skin patches occur. As with any treatment, you will need to undergo a thorough consultation with Dr Wakil to discuss your medical history and lifestyle to determine if this is the right solution for you.
Women who are pregnant or breast feeding are not suitable for Plexr treatment.

The treatment is performed using a topical anaesthetic or numbing cream to minimise any discomfort, but the treatment is well tolerated and virtually painless. Some people report a feeling of heat during the procedure.

The average treatment time is around 30 minutes, but it will depend on what treatment you are having and the size of the area being treated.

The advantage of Plexr is that it offers an alternative to surgery, which can be highly invasive, have associated risks and may involve prolonged downtime. There is minimal downtime associated with the treatment.
Immediately following the procedure, you may experience a burning sensation for a few hours, as if you had sun burn. This can be managed with cooling gel or ice packs and should subside quickly.
You may have some swelling and redness in the area, which could last for two days or more, sometimes up to a one week. Swelling around the eyes is the most pronounced when using Plexr for soft surgery.
You will also get ‘crusting’ of the skin in the treated area which should be gone within five to seven days, but this could be concealed easily with a concealer foundation which will not stop you from going back to work, so the treatment could be done on Thursday or Friday and by Monday you can cover the crusts with concealer and back to work as normal. You must not pick off or scratch the crusts as this could result in scarring or pigmentation changes.

Plexr can provide dramatic results for a wide variety of skin concerns. It is considered to be the first and ONLY non-surgical blepharoplasty option.

Results are visible after one treatment however some conditions may require two treatments to achieve the best results. The results you achieve are instant and permanent.
